Biography

Miles has over 20 years of Financial Services experience in Risk Management spanning the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defence, acquired through serving multiple Banking Groups, across both UK and International jurisdictions.  Miles’ Financial Services career began back in the late 90’s where he developed Santander’s first House Price Index and used it to index the Banks Mortgage collateral for the purpose of determining Impairment, Capital and granting Further Advances to Customers.  After Santander and before, during and after the last Financial crisis Miles was Head of Decisioning at Barclaycard and recognised as leading the turnaround in the Bank’s Bad Debt position.  After leaving Barclays at the end of 2012 as its Head of Impairment, Forecasting & Stress Testing for their Western Europe Business, Miles began a period with The Cooperative Bank where he was recognised as being instrumental in stabilising the Banks Bad Debt position and enhancing its ability to model, determine and govern Impairment.  After several years as a Consulting Director for an International Systems Integrator Miles joined SAS towards the end of 2019 as our Practice Lead for Risk Management Advisory supporting UK & Ireland based clients.

Biography

George worked for HSBC for more than 40 years in London, Dubai and Hong Kong. He was responsible for setting up HSBC’s Risk analytics centres in India and China. He also served as the Group Head of Retail Risk, Group Head of Decisioning and Head of Underwriting in Asia before retiring to form his own consultancy business. More recently George has helped to set up the HSBC University where he wrote some of the lending courses.

Biography

Suresh provides niche consulting services through his organization Suresh-Sankaran.com to central banks and regulators around the globe.

Prior to this, Suresh assumed the role of Principal Risk Officer aof Kamakura Corporation in 2014. He provided Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) and Basel III software and advisory consulting services to its clients worldwide. He re-joined Kamakura Corporation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, where he was Principal Operations Officer responsible for the development of risk management practices in the financial services sector in emerging markets.

Prior to this, he was Vice-President & Director, Strategic Consulting Services, at Fiserv, and was responsible for consulting development.

Suresh has advised clients on customer behaviour modelling on retail banking products like mortgages for prepayments, and non-determinant deposits for early withdrawal. He has assisted several leading retail banks around the globe in the production of customer behaviour estimates to analyse their balance sheet mismatches.

Suresh is a featured speaker in the workshops and seminars organized by the Financial Stability Institute, a division of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS).

He has authored several papers on liquidity management and alternative methods of liquidity measurement.

Suresh is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Commerce. His interests include P G Wodehouse, skydiving, and Indian classical music.
