Ralph Axel is a Director and U.S. Rates Strategist at BofA Global Research.
Axel, who joined the firm in June 2010, focuses on the analysis of U.S. rates markets, including treasuries, futures, swaps and agency markets. Regular Research publications include the Global Rates Weekly, Liquid Insight and World at a Glance. He was a #1 ranked analyst in the 2020 Institutional Investor Survey.
Previously, Axel was an interest rate strategist at Deutsche Bank Securities, where he specialized in dollar-denominated U.S. and European Agency bonds. Before that, Axel served as proprietary bond trader at Lehman Brothers and previously was the lead domestic U.S. rates strategist at HSBC Securities.
Axel received a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and an M.S. and Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Hans Bailey serves as the Senior Economics and Credit Risk Officer for Cadence Bank. Hans has over 25 years of experience as a business economist. Based in Birmingham, Alabama, his current work specializes in economic forecasting and modelling, and loss reserving for Cadence. He has previously served as the economic capital manager for Regions Bank, a statistician for Wachovia Bank, and an economist at Old Republic Insurance Company. Hans holds a Master’s Degree in Economics from the University of Oklahoma.

Chad Brandt
Chad Brandt oversees the bank’s capital markets activities, including funding and debt issuance, investments, and market risk analysis. Brandt also manages the on-balance sheet loan assets for the bank’s Advantage Mortgage Purchase Program. He joined FHLBank Indianapolis in January 2016. Prior to joining the bank, Brandt served as Vice President of Liquidity and Funding for BMO Harris Bank in Chicago and was Executive Vice President of Banking and Advance Products at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. Brandt holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Duke University.

Scott Brennan manages the sales and funding teams, and directs the execution of the corresponding business strategies. Brennan leads the Bank’s resources and strategies related to shareholder business development.
Brennan joined FHLBank Atlanta in 2001 as a relationship manager, providing customized funding solutions to shareholder financial institutions in North Carolina and South Carolina. He was promoted to regional sales coordinator with responsibility for financial institutions in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. in 2005. Prior to joining FHLBank Atlanta, Brennan worked for Fleet Boston Financial Corporation in Horsham, Pennsylvania. He earned a bachelor of science in business administration from Franklin and Marshall College.

Ian Broff
Ian joined USAA in May 2019 and currently leads Enterprise Interest Rate and Liquidity Risk Oversight, and serves as the functional Head of Financal Risk for USAA Federal Savings Bank.
Prior to USAA, Ian was Senior Vice President at BNP Paribas Bank of the West where he served as the Head of Market & Counterparty Risk. While at BNP, he also held roles as a Senior Credit Officer and in Risk Credit Strategies for the US Commercial Banking operations.
Prior to BNP, Ian worked for a market-neutral hedge fund covering the financial services sector for 2 years from 2007-2009. Prior to 2007, Ian worked in various roles in risk management and corporate credit with Bank of America.
Ian is an active CFA Charterholder and member of the DFW CFA Society. He holds a Master’s in Financial Engineering from UCLA Anderson School of Management and a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance from Boston College. Ian is also a graduate of the Pacific Coast Banking School where he was published in the Library and included on the Honor Roll.
When not at work, Ian enjoys spending time with his wife Monica, and two daughters, Evelyn (8) and Vivienne (6). He also enjoys playing Classical piano (since 4 years old) and an occasional round of golf.

Over the past 27 years, he has worked for several institutions as a practitioner, regulator and consultant (such as The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Fannie Mae, GE Capital and Quantitative Risk Management) and has covered Financial, Operational and Enterprise risks.

Adam Goldstein is the Chief Business Officer at the FHLBNY. In this role, Adam oversees the bank’s Business Lines. Since joining the FHLBNY in June 1997, Adam has established departments including Marketing, Membership and Research, and the Member Service Desk. He is the co-lead for the FHLBNY’s Corporate Long-Term Strategy and sits on the FHLBNY’s Management Committee, Asset-Liability Management Committee, and Disclosure Committee. Adam is instrumental in the development of new business initiatives, such as the Mortgage Asset Program (MAP®) and Letters of Credit products, as well as the innovation of numerous credit and community development products.
At the national FHLBank System level, Adam is the Chairman of the Large Member Lending Task Force (f.k.a Globally Systemic Important Banks Task Force) and the Chairman of the In-District Regulatory Outreach Committee. He previously led the ESG Bond Issuance Task Force (presented the findings to the OF Board), was a senior member of the Insurance Company Task Force and Data Governance Task Force, and was past Chairman and creator of the FHLBank System Sales and Marketing Committee. Adam serves on the American Fintech Council and is a member of their Community Advisory Board. He is also on the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Finance Committee, as well as former Chairman of the Audit Committee for the Kennedy Children Center.
